The Allison 1710 engine was used in several fighters.

  - The Lockheed P-38 Lightning mostly used it in combination with a supercharger. 

  - It was also used in the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk. The P-40 did not use it with a supercharger.

  - The Bell P-39 Airacobra also used this engine.  An interesting difference was that the P-39 had a cannon mounted to fire through the propeller drive shaft.
